Tennis and Squash on the RCA Studio II
The Studio II's version of the crusty classic PONG. This game came as a separate cartridge for the
RCA Studio II. As with Space
War it has been replicated as a game "ROM" file that you will need to load in separately.
To do this, click on the FILE drop down menu (top left of the emulator window) then click on OPEN.
This opens up a filing-system window where you should see the file "TENNIS~1.ST2". This is the
Tennis/Squash game cartridge "ROM" file. Double click on this to begin.
Game Variations
Squash is a one-player only game started by pressing "1". Tennis
is a two-player only game started by pressing "2". With both games you need to select your bat
size and the speed of the ball before starting to play.
Squash Controls
Press "1" to select. Use Numeric Keypad "4", "5" or "6" to
select the bat size (from smallest to largest). Next press "A", "S" or "D"
to select the ball speed (from slowest to fastest).
Use Numeric Keypad "8" and "2" to move your bat up and down. Press "F1"
to reset the console at the end of a game.
Tennis Controls
Press "2" to select. Use "Q", "W" or "E" to choose Player 1's
bat size (from smallest to largest. Do the same for Player 2 using Numeric Keypad "4", "5"
or "6". Finally use "A", "S" or "D" to select the ball speed (from
slowest to fastest).
Thus pressing "2", "E", Numeric Keypad "6" then "A" will start
the easiest game. A bit of a daft system it has to be said.
Move your bat up and down using "2" and "S" for Player One and Numeric Keypad
"8" and "2" for Player Two. Press "F1" to reset the console at the end of
a game.

Accessibility suggestions
Use an alternative controller to the keyboard with JoyToKey:
The set-up of this game is a bit of a head-ache due to an unnecessarily complicated menu. This is a problem
that has blighted many games ever since. Using a utility such as JoyToKey
gives the power to place controls in a more convenient way.
Two Switch play:
By setting two accessibility switches to the UP and DOWN bat controls play play will become more accessible.
Gamers using this set-up will need to rely upon a helper to start games for them.
For your convenience JoyToKey has a "RCA Studio II" configuration that will work straight
away with Playstation compatible controllers. D-Pad UP and DOWN serves Player 1 and TRIANGLE and CROSS
serves Player 2.
